Charlottesville, VA - Sean Singletary (men's basketball) and Leah Wigger (women's golf) were honored as Virginia's top male and female athletes for the 2006-07 academic year at Virginia's annual awards dinner Wednesday (May 2) at the John Paul Jones Arena. Singletary received the WINA Award as the top male athlete and Wigger received the IMP Award as the top female athlete.

Singletary, a junior guard from Philadelphia, Pa., finished the 2006-07 season with averages of 19.0 points, 4.7 assists and 4.6 rebounds a game. He ranked second in the Atlantic Coast Conference in three-point field goals made (79, 2.47 a game) and free throw percentage (.872, 190-218), third in scoring (609 points, 19.0 ppg.), fifth in assists (151, 4.7 apg.) and 10th in minutes played (1,064, 33.2 mpg.). Singletary led the Cavaliers in points, assists, three-point field goals made, free throw percentage, steals (38, 1.2 spg.) and minutes played. A team co-captain each of the last two seasons, he earned numerous All-America honors after the 2006-07 season and was a first-team All-ACC selection for the second consecutive year in 2007. Singletary was one of 17 finalists for the Bob Cousy Award, one of 22 players on the Wooden Award ballot and a candidate for the Naismith Trophy.
